Prosthesis
A prosthesis or an artificial leg is sometimes used for a dog after amputation of a (part) of the leg. An amputation can happen as a result of trauma, a tumor but can also be congenital.
To know whether your dog is eligible for a prosthesis, you must first check the amputation level. By knowing the correct amputation level, we know how long the stump is, how long the part of the leg is that remains.
The length of the stump will also determine whether the prosthesis can be used functionally by your dog. This length is important during the stance phase and during the swing phase.
